Use Toner On Your Scalp

Facial toning oils, such as astringent, can be used on the scalp as well. This will cut down on the secretion of oil by the glands on your scalp. You can make a homemade conditioner from equal parts of mouthwash and witch hazel. When using this on your hair, use cotton balls to apply it only to the scalp. Consider doing this each time you wash your hair.

Be Careful Not To Over Brush

Those with oily hair need to avoid brushing their hair too much. When you brush your hair, the oil from the glands in your scalp are dragged through the rest of your hair. This accentuates the oil problem.

Believe it or not, one of the causes of oily hair is hormones. Hormones can increase the production of oil because the stress hormone makes the body produce more androgens, which increase oil secretions. If you are under stress, your hair can become oily, so learn to relax!
