Male Pattern Baldness

Male pattern baldness is also known as Androgenetic Alopecia. When the central and frontal area of the scalp is affected, it results in baldness. Progressive hair thinning is the most common form of baldness.

A normal adult usually lose about 10,000 scalp hairs every day. But they get replaced with the growth of new hairs. Male pattern baldness occurs when the lost hairs failed to get replaced. But this process generally takes a long time. There are various reasons for baldness.

As it is evident from its name, male pattern baldness follows a particular pattern. Hair loss can start occurring in any area but the most common areas are the crown and the central area of the head. The hair starts thinning and it continues to thin for a number of years. Over a period of time, it may result in total baldness. Mostly male pattern baldness runs through generations.
